A home sharpener that is correct for your blades can do the job but they are not cheap and if you have single- and double-sided blades it gets pricy.
For lots of honing and sharpening info try badgerandblade.com, a little biased to straight razors but lots of good info. SpyderCo blocks in 4000 and 8000grit (IIRC) seem reccomended.

meh. You can use a home sharpener with good result.As an adjunct to my honing "steel" I use a Wusthof model.
Of course, I'd rather have a grinding wheel that was pedal powered...
