Sometimes, sometimes i think about ditching the car. Yes, its convenient. But yesterday i spent 3 hours pulling bits out the engine compartment to un-bung some drain holes, that by a weird design issue mean the back of the car floods with water when it rains. Not only that but where the water collects (back near-side passenger footwell) is where the computer unit is that controls all the electrics of the car. Course it is! where else would you put it out of harms way? And yes, the central locking is screwed....Sheesh!
Word is, if its corroded, thats a £700+labour fix. Back under the carpets today to try and pull out the CCU and take it from there....

manny at my garage is an expert in these and says dry out the 'puter and often they come back to life.
i got it out this am, and found a little, but not much, water in the casing. the board seemed ok. but now its HOSING down and there is more water getting in...fucknhell. i need to replace a seal around the pollen filter that apparently is the way water gets into the aircons system, but 2 hours of hairdryering this am for nowt....
central locking still being weird....i need a beer.
good luck with it then. The bung under the battery got removed for good but some water had got through, currently ignoring all issues with the car until it is warm again and there is daylight ;-)
buy quality, buy french. ;)
is all that water getting in through the pollen filter?
B-i-L had a Saab written off as computery bit got soaked. It did have a chunk of the River Earn in it after it burst it's banks around their house though.
move to london. no car needed and it's dryer.
Took day off to complete some much deferred tax returns. Looking at 5 reminders from accountants but still manage to sit looking at your blog. Common Jon give me some inspiration. If Jo gets back and finds the office still in a tip she is gonna kill me. I've put some Chemical Brothers on very loud but its not helping!
just take out the little rubber bungs totally and it should stop them getting clogged and the plenum chamber getting full of water. That's what I did on mine and it seems to have solved the problem. They're only they're to stop smells from the engine getting into the air system in the car. and avoid parking under trees. VW are doing a vague recall on some Passats to sort the problem btw.
