Stuc a'Chroin.

Big day in the hills yesterday. Pretty severely broken. I think i'm beginning to get some sort of appreciation of what My Vertigo is going to allow me to do: despite a fair bit of portage and boggy sections between Ben Vorlich and Stuc a'Chroin, the descent down to Loch Earn ranks up at the very top of anything i have ridden. Wild riding.

More on this ride shortly, when i have collected my thoughts. I've been changing my philosophy of route choice recently and not saying too much about it...

So how was it? I was talking to a mate about doing this the other day. Walked it years ago. What route did you take?

Top tip. Ben Lawers. Do it and you'll understand why!

Lochnagar 5 is next on my list of must do mountain rides.

up from callander, and along to the steadings, up and over the path that would normally join with the trail to Glen Vorlcih, but instead turned nw ish and up the ridge running down from S a'C. quite a lot of portage. to this point, but also some good riding, then a sort of nutso descent down to a 50m pretty much vertical drop to the saddle, accross a boggy section then round the ridge leading down nnw to loch earn from ben vorlich and joined the Vorlich path...whoch was also nutso.....

Lawers looks interesting. cant think why ive not been up there...

Lochnagar has some pretty good stuff too...

Cool. Cheers for the beta on the route. Lawers is awesome. Up via Beinn Ghlas then descend from Lawers on the trail to the north of Ghlas. A cracking wee ride which we added Lawers Burn descent to.

Thinking Carn Gorm 4 up Glen Lyon tomorrow if the weather improves as forecast.

Cheers

Just back from Vorlich. Magic descent. Under an hour and a half to the top at an easy pace. You are right about the descent. It is terrific though a heavy shower meant the rocks were really greasy. The chutes and switchbacks were mint! Great ride.
