Then i thought, at 800g it is unlikely i am going to use either for racing. A duster weighs ~500g, so why have 300g of extra rotating weight. Using the old multiply-by-4 rule for rotating mass, that is a colossal increase in weight.
What about a Salsa cycles Gordo? It is welded and double wall and eyeletted, but at a measley 35mm wide and 700g it is hardly a better compromise.
So now i am thinking of an Edge composites 40mm wide rim. (they are going to be coming out with a neato seat post also) Only issue...it ain't available yet...

What's wrong with a Duster? They are my new go-to general purpose rim... Wide (ish by your standards), lightish, strong, eyeletted, cheap, good tubeless, what more could you want?
exactly! they rule...i have 2 sets running and they have been perfect. occasionally a wee bit wider is fun ;-)~
Do you really want a carbon rim? Edge are very,very good but how much of a weight saving is there? Now your frame, are you going to be running gears on it, and is the bottom bracket an EBB or some sort of BB30? Also your seat tube, is it 15.5", that's short and I presume your not a short chap.
yes. carbon rims are a good thing imo. a little weight saving, a big hike in stiffness it seems. course proof in pudding. seat tube is 15.5" centre to top. 13.5 c-c. ebb, singlepseed or geared if i want
the prices on the edge stuff scares meee.... i'm thinking about a new fall wheelset project for my Jabber
